Looking Ahead

Jaipal feels that the future is very bright for the packaging sector. According to him, packaging sector is going to grow tremendously because the demands of the population are high. As the retail industry is becoming more organised, most of the products are available in packed form, so, packaging has a very bright future.

“It will have an average growth of 20 per cent annum for the coming decade. In fact, the biggest growth will be in packaging and pharmacy sectors, which are the future of India. Even our focus areas are packaging and pharmacy, “concludes Jaipal.

Industry Scenario

Jaipal sees his experience over the years as an invaluable asset to build Unipack. He says, “Our association with Pharmalab, which spans over 28 years, has motivated us immensely and boosted our morale. According to him, “This is a very competitive world and it will be the survival of the fittest. So, people are going to see three things. Quality, Service and in-time delivery. If you cater to these three aspects, then you are going to flourish. You will be flooded with orders.”

He is of the view that for growing to the desired heights it is imperative to adopt the latest technologies. Otherwise it will be impossible to survive in the competitive world. It is also important that the industry is offered adequate government support to grow .He says.

“In other countries, especially China, the governments are very much in support of the industry. However, in India, the support is not promising, adding, “Red topism and slow functioning of ministries are haunting the industry growth here. The policy announcements take many years to be implemented, which is very discouraging”

Growth Avenues

Apart from manufacturing of packaging machinery and SS filter presses, Unipack has also started a new business of refurbishing old SS filter presses of all brands. “We have the expertise and technology to refurbish and make the old SS filter presses to new look in performance and efficiency.

We have already done refurbishing of a dozen SS filter presses. Six are our own machines and six of other makes, imported from Germany and the UK. And we intent to do refurbishing of 12 machines every year,” Jaipal states.
